Is RSA SecurID wirelessly connected to the network or is it standalone?

Does it matter where on the globe I am to use my RSA SecurID? I have an RSA SecurId that I use, but I am wondering if I have to be within a network coverage area or if its usable anywhere in the globe. Is the token connected to a network where it gets its pword (which by the way is updated every minute or so)? Can I travel with it anywhere in the world and use it where ever I have internet access? Or do I have to be in a certain geographic network area covered by RSA SecurID. Thanks in advance...
