Does anyone else think that there's something simply "off" about the way the newer mustangs look?
I agree with you. Ford, like most other car makers today, makes cars look a bit too bulby looking. This is the unfortunate influence of Foreign Japanese, and Korean car makers who produce sloppy line free and rounded designs, even stumpy looking, which take away from the clean appeal of a sharp looking automobile. In fact, smaller, sleeker looking cars of the past were much more aero dynamic looking than the new cars. When a car looks sleek, lined, HOT, it is a delightful design to behold. The early Mustangs had this appeal. Not so much today. The new Mustangs are nice, but compared to the sleek sharped lined Mustangs of early days, they look bulby, thick, even fat. This removes the appeal of a car which should have the look of a hot knife slashing its way through er! This negative design is also incorporated into all the other models as well. A fast, clic car, --or any car for that matter, will always sell better if it looks like it is MOVING even when it is parked at the curb side. I hope Ford is listening here. Clic line, and clean cuts in a cars body, mean beauty and desirability, which equates to more cars sold, and more happy customers. Those who like sloppy rounded designs and flying saucer lamps like in the Nissan Altima, to the bugged out eyes of Toyota headlamps with sloppy and fat rounded rear ends can stay with Toyota and Honda. Design sells. And clean proportionate design sells even better. The Mustangs back end is a little to chunky to my tastes. But the over all new Mustang is 1000 times better looking than anything the foreign car makers can touch.
