Why did my cervix look normal?

I received a smear result back as severe dyskaryosis so went for a colposcopy. At the colposcopy he did the procedure of having a look with the acetic acid applied and then the iodine and he couldn't see the abnormal cells. So he took a biopsy. why did my cervix look normal? I have to wait 4 weeks fo the results. Do i need to be thinking that something far worse is wrong. why did i originally get a result of severe etc? Can someone explain this to me? I did ring my dr and he couldn't give an explanation, but its not in his field of medicine.
